Effects of Temperature on the Sorption of Pb2+ from Aqueous Solution by Natural Kaolinite |

Abstract: This report is based on the investigation of the effects of temperature on the removal of Pb2+ in aqueous effluent using natural kaolinite in a batch sorption process. The result showed that the experimental data are in good agreement with the Freundlich isotherm. Various thermodynamic parameters, such as ΔG°, ΔH°, ΔS° and Ea have been calculated. The data showed that the sorption process is spontaneous and endothermic in nature. The sticking probability model was further employed to assess the applicability of the natural kaolinite as an alternative adsorbent for Pb2+ in aqueous system. The findings of this investigation suggest that physical sorption plays a role in controlling the sorption rate.
