Abstract:The Three Gorges Project changes the nature conditions such as hydrological regulation which probably induce the eco-environmental changes of related regions, and then bring disputed eco-environmental impacts on the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and even the Yangtze Basin. The Eco-environmental Monitoring Network for the Three Gorges Project is the only mammoth comprehensive academically net in China with trans-regions, trans-agencies, multi-disciplines related to hydrology and water quality, local climate, soil, terrestrial biological resources, hydro-biological resources, land disasters, human health and eco-system of estuary. This paper introduced the Network’s task, contents, construction, macro-structure and its features and then briefly reviewed the major eco-environmental measures taken since the beginning of the Project.
