植被状况的变化是反映区域性生态环境状况的重要指标之一，多年植被指数的变化则反映了植被生态环境随时间的变化规律。本文在前人研究成果的基础上，采用定量遥感技术，应用美国国家航空航天局最新的全球植被指数变化研究数据（GIMMS）及MODIS数据作为数据源，对宁夏地区1982－2004年间的植被指数变化幅度及变化趋势进行了研究对比。结果证明，1999年以前宁夏绝大部分地区植被指数呈现上升趋势；而从2000年开始，由于引用黄河水量的减少，部分地区的植被指数呈现下降趋势。

Variability of vegetation is one of the important indices for regional eco-environment. The variation of vegetation during a certain number of years directly reflects the variability trend of vegetation eco-environment with time. On the basis of previous researches and the quantitative remote sensing results, in this paper the variability trend of NDVI from 1982 to 2004 in Ningxia area is studied by using GIMMS NDVI data and MODIS data. According to the result, the variability trend of NDVI in most areas was in rising from 1982-1999. However, due to less diverted water volume of the Yellow River, the NDVI was in declining after 2000.
