Abstract

Studies have generally recognized the close relationship between physical activity and health and the important role of neighborhood environment. However, there are still few reviews on the relationship among neighborhood environment, physical activity and health, especially on leisure time physical activity. Therefore, this study first sorts out the relationship among neighborhood environment, leisure time physical activity and health, and constructs an analytic framework of the review. Secondly, it addresses the different mechanisms of objective built environment, subjective environment and social environment, and sorts out and comments on the literature from two angles:the neighborhood environment impact on leisure physical activity and the intermediary effect of leisure physical activity on residents' health. Finally, the research points out that future study should pay more attention to the comprehensive influence mechanism of different dimensions of neighborhood environment, explore the differences of different types of physical activities from the behavior perspective, focus on exploring the influence mechanism of "neighborhood environment-physical activity-health", and pay attention to methodological issues such as uncertain geographic context problem(UGCoP) and new technologies and methods of data acquisition and analysis.
