Abstract

Based on the routine observational data as well as data of satellite, automatic weather stations and Doppler weather radar, the limit terra snowstorm event is investigated on December 21, 2005 in Weihai city. The two outputs by WRF model are tested. The obtained results show that the heavy snow occurred in the favorable environmental conditions. Huanghai and Bohai provided abundant water-vapor. This snowstorm is mainly resulted from mesoscale coast front. It was demonstrated that the land wind convergence contributed greatly to snow enhancement in the coast due to thermal contrast between land and sea.
