Abstract

Liapunov A M, as the mainstay of the St. Petersburg School of Mathematics, founded the theory of stability of motion, and the theory of equilibrium shape of rotating liquid masses and the qualitative theory of differential equations, explored the central limit theorem of probability theory and a series of other profound mathematical and mechanical topics. He made outstanding contributions for Russia to become the world scientific and technological power. By collecting Liapunov's touching love and the goal of aesthetic science, this paper demonstrates his scientific world outlook and philosophy.
