One purpose of scientific research is often considered as how it can be applied to commercialization, however, an equally important (if not more) consequence of research is the ability for researchers to think scientifically. This is especially important for Macao, a highly developed capitalistic gaming city. Since its return to China in 1999, the Macao government and the public community at large have made tremendous efforts to initiate scientific research and have implemented legal, organizational, and resource measures to systematically support scientific research. Today's Macao has attracted research talents and achieved new productivity in research and development. While the investment of scientific research by Macao has not yet resulted in a large-scale high-tech industry, the development of scientific research has certainly helped Macao residents, particularly the younger generation, to pursue long-term prosperity and stability for Macao.
