As the key works for harnessing and developing the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges Project (TGP) has considerable comprehensive benefits in the flood control, power generation and navigation as well as in the improvement of the environment and ecological system, which plays an important role both in the economic-social sustainable development and implementation of the Western Development of China. After completion and operation of the TGP, the water-sand conditions of the Yangtze River will be changed and sedimentation will occur in the backwater zone at the tail of the reservoir. On the other hand, clean water discharge will bring long-term and long-distance erosion to the channel of middle & down streams, which will lead to changes in sedimentation of the Dongting Lake and relationships between the river and the lake. In addition, for the middle & down streams, new problems will occur such as flood safety of river regime control, levees and bank protection works as well as the navigation. Therefore, special studies, further observations and reinforcements shall be carried out. How to give full play to TGP's role of environmental & ecological preservation and improvement shall be taken into consideration, and relevant measures shall be taken to minimize its negative impacts. Prevention and treatment of water pollution shall be strengthened to protect the water environment of Changjiang River basin. In accordance with the principle of "developing in protection and protecting in development", development and protection of the Yangtze River shall be accelerated to make its important contribution to the economic-social sustainable development of China.

Discussion on Three Gorges Powerplant to Modulate More Net-peaks to Improve Water Quality of Tributaries of Reservoir

In this paper, measures on the emergence of water blooms in some tributaries of the reservoir of the Three Gorges Project (TGP) are discussed. Heavy load of pollutant from upstream and slow flowage are believed as the main causes. To substantially cut down the load of pollutant for the time being is not feasible and ways from the power plant operation might be considered to improve this situation. By applying an unsteady flow model, the effects of peak modulations on the movement of water in the TGP reservoir are studied. It was found that certain extends of variation in power generation between day and night could induce the whole reservoir to oscillate like a tidal river. The range of such artificial tide can be as high as 55 cm. Such tides could cause considerable exchanges of water between main channel and tributaries, which is helpful to controlling water blooms in the tributaries. The power of TGP is quite sizable and good qualified for large power net modulation. So the author suggests the TGP to carry out some proto type tests to further verify the above-mentioned effects. If it could be approved, a two-win countermeasure for both power net and the water quality of the reservoir might be found.

The Three Gorges Water Conservancy Project has a tremendous scale and benefit, its geological conditions are more complicate. The geological investigation played a significant role in the selection of the dam site, the research on major problems of geology and earthquake, and the control of geological hazards. This paper expounds main achievements of geologic investigation and elementary experiences in the control of geological hazards based on the practical work in tens of years.

The article introduces the historical background, the functioning and the key persons involved of the Three Gorges Project in the different period. Like all the other huge engineering project in the world, Three Gorges Project attracted lots of controversy ever since the beginning of the project. Especially in the late 1980's , when the project was in the re-verification, the ecological environment impact of the project became and will be the focus in the future. The positive and negative impacts of the Three Gorges Project on the ecological environment have been analyzed. The author thinks that the negative impacts of the hydropower projects are indistinct and sluggish. The biggest and most complicated ecological environment impacts of the Three Gorges Project are the sedimentation at the end of the reservoir and the scouring on the banks downstream the dam, which should be researched and observed in a long term and continuous way. The corresponding countermeasures for other negative impacts such as that on the geological environment, water environment, resettlement environment are also analyzed in the article.

Ever since reservoir impoundment and commissioning in 2003,the Three Gorges Project(TGP) has preliminarily demonstrated its role for comprehensive benefits such as flood control, power generation, and navigation improvement. The result of a long-term monitoring shows that pollution discharge into the reservoir slightly increases, that the quality of water environment basically keeps stable, that the overall water quality remains the rating of Class III, that pollution belt emerges along the bank of some cities, and that "water bloom" occurs in some sections of Yangtze tributaries. It is proposed to cope with the risk of water environment of the Three Gorges Reservoir in this paper, that pollution sources shall be further treated in terms of technology, management, and investment, and that the measures of environment-friendly reservoir dispatch shall be studied and implemented, as to balance the relationship between TGP operation and water environment protection.

Diagnose and Research on Typhoon Disasters Caused by 0505 Typhoon Haitang

The 0505 Typhoon Haitang has extensive confines, strong intensity ,intricate trace and different characteristics in its different stages. It caused very severe damage breakage and grave loss in China. Based on the analysis on the typhoon disasters and general circulation, this paper researches the basic reasons of heavy rain in Zhejing and Fujian provinces by using diagnosing methods such as Q vector and helicity, etc. The helicoidal cloud cinctures within typhoon's periphery, close-grained cloud cinctures near its center caused heavy rain in Taiwan and southeastern China. And cloud agglomerates existing in the southeast jet in its periphery also made strong precipitation. Furthermore, the interaction between the typhoon's remnant low-pressure and the west wind systems brings strong convective weather phenomena and heavy precipitation in northern China. In the fore-and-aft typhoon landfalling, the convergence or divergence of Q vector can be used to estimate vertical motion field. Moreover, the typhoon's helicoidal cloud cinctures behaved as a positive maximum center on the lower level relative helicity field by means of analyzing the helicity.

Numerical Saimulation of Nonlinear Wave Transformation Around Vertical Wave-permeable Breakwater

Based on modified Boussinesq type equations the problem of wave partial reflection and transmission by wave-permeable structure are solved. Compared with laboratory data in wave basin and engineering practice in field, the model gave accurate predictions of reflected and transmitted effects around the wave-permeable breakwater. The simulation results show that the wave model can be used as an accurate method of engineering reference.

On the basis of the logistics management, the logistics cost was adopted as assessment norm. It is divided into three parts: stock expenses, transport expenses, administrative expense. Through the analysis on logistics cost and GDP of the United States, Japan, China and others countries, the relationship between logistics total cost and its components with the country's GDP was analysed.

This paper chooses 410 coalmine fatal gas explosion accidents in China during the 20-year period from 1980 to 2000 and makes a system decomposition and measurement to the unsafe behaviors that directly cause fatal gas explosion accidents, basing on the systematic study on the human factor rules of the causes of accidents; the Four View chart of the characteristics and unsafe behavior rules of accidents is formed. The measurement and separation of the deliberate violation behaviors and management error behaviors, which are of different driving characteristics, offer us a brand-new view to further explore the unsafe behaviors of coalmine fatal gas explosion accidents and establish the research foundations.

The Exon 1 CpG Island of the Tumor Suppressor p16 Gene Aberrant Methylation in Cervical Carcinogenesis

Restriction endonuclease PCR method was utilized to analyze 33 cases tumor tissue and 15 cases normal tissue. The data was analyzed by SPSS Software. At last, it shows that there are 18 cases cervical tumor methyltion in SacⅡ cleavage site and 8 cases cervical tumor methyltion in SmaⅠ cleavage site, on the contrary, there are 2 normal tissue methyltion in SacⅡ cleavage site and no normal tissue methyltion in SmaⅠ cleavage site. In addition, the early stage cervical tumor are more ease methyltion in those two CpG inland. In a word, the exon 1 of p16 gene SacⅡand SmaⅠCpG island methylation related with cervical tumor carcinogenesis.

The unified and openness information platform and "one click is enough" can be get in logistics public information platform (LPIP) for city based on integrating information resources of government, finance, revenue, custom, community and business scheme. And the strategies for LPIP implementation can be realized by viewing logistics information as center, network and security as information infrastructure, assets as tache, and market as orientation.This paper mainly focuses on the architecture of LPIP and information grid and logistics information grid. A six-tier architecture and collaborative model of logistics information grid is presented. That is representational, value added process, application service, resource operating system, resource and physical layer from top to bottom.

The great scale earthquake is meant by that the earthquake has very long geneseismic fault, very large fault plane and very big moment magnitude denoted by Mw 9 and more. Some correlation between the great scale earthquakes and temperature decrease in the northern hemisphere, including China,is indicated. Besides, the great scale earthquakes are in some degree related to the catastrophic flood in China. The great scale earthquake Mw 9.0 in Indonesia in 2004 is an important warning for us.
