I am honored to have been invited to write this message for the readers of the first issue of Science and Technology Review.A journal which has as its primary aim to further the goal of scientificandtechnological exchange between the United States and the People's Republic of China is a most worthy enterprise. I know it will receive the enthusiastic support of American scientists and engineers, and hope it will be widely read by our colleagues in the PRC.
