Scientific and technological professionals are the main power for the innovation and the development of China. The mental health is the base of being innovative and achieving their full potential. To study the mental health of Chinese scientific and technological professionals, three surveys were conducted in the years of 2009, 2014 and 2017, respectively. The results are as follows. About 1/5 scientific and technological professionals had depressive symptoms, 11.2% had the suicide ideation in the past year, and 48.1% suffered varying degrees of anxiety. The male professionals had higher level of depression than the female professionals. The young and middle-aged professionals had higher level of anxiety than the elder age groups. The demands for the mental health of scientific and technological professionals mainly include the emotional regulation, the interpersonal skills, the parenting of children, the career guidance, the marriage and family, and the treatment and prevention of the mental disorders. Scientific and technological professionals had scruples and misunderstandings about mental health services, with resistance in using mental health services and seeking professional help. Meanwhile, the resources of mental health services for the scientific and technological professionals were still very limited. Most of the professionals (67.2%) felt that they were unable to access to the mental health service conveniently. Overally, the present mental health service system is still unsystematic and insufficient, and cannot meet the demands of Chinese scientific and technological professionals. Therefore, the specific mental health service system for scientific and technological professionals should be implemented and strengthened. Meanwhile, the knowledge of the mental health should be popularized.

A sample questionnaire survey of 403 employees in a number of IT companies and a case study of an IT company show that IT workers are high-stress, high-anxiety, high-happiness, low-depression, and low-burnout. The main sources of stress are the characteristics of the work itself, such as the workload, and the career development. In terms of demographic factors affecting the physical and mental health, the age and the marriage status have an impact on the physical and mental health:36-40 year old employees are in a state of high stress, low physical and mental health, low happiness; for the married employees or those with stable contacts with friends, their stress, physical and mental health, and their happiness level are better than those of divorced or unconnected employees. With regard to the personal personality, type A personality has a negative impact on the mental health. Optimism, resilience, and self-efficacy all have a positive impact on the mental health. With regard to external factors, interpersonal relationships and organizational environments have a positive impact on the mental health. The better the organizational atmosphere, the lower the employee's sense of stress, the better the physical and mental health, and the higher the happiness sense.

In order to promote the construction of world-class societies and promote the mastering of specialized knowledge and ocupational capability for professional personnel in science and technology societies, the present study surveys the psychological state of full-time staff in the societies affiliated to China Association for Science and Technology. A total of 557 valid questionnaires were distributed and collected. They were compiled with Depression Scale of Center for Epidemiologic Studies, Career Satisfaction Scale, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Psychological Capital Scale and other instruments. Through data analysis, it is shown that the depression and the anxiety are common among the full-time staff of the societies, with the detection rate of 18.9% for the depression, 30.8% for the mild anxiety, and 18.9% for the moderate to severe anxiety. The full-time staff is relatively satisfied with their career. Career satisfaction, job involvement and career commitment vary significantly among different positions and income levels. Multiple regression analysis shows that both internal and external factors have a significant influence on the psychological state of the full-time staff. The regression coefficients of the emotional regulation and the job characteristics on the anxiety and the depression are significant, the cognitive reappraisal significantly reduces the level of depression and anxiety. The higher the job requirements, the higher the level of depression and anxiety; the higher the level of the decision-making autonomy, the lower the level of depression and anxiety. Psychological capital and job requirements have significant regression coefficients on the career satisfaction, the job involvement and the occupational commitment, among which the interpersonal psychological capital can positively predict the career satisfaction. Skill development has a significant impact on all three indicators:the more the opportunities for skill development, the better the work attitude. Excessive job requirements reduce the occupational commitment and the career satisfaction. The present study suggests that to improve the emotional health and work state of the full-time staff of the societies, attention should be paid to both the improvement of the working environment and the psychological selection and training of the staff. In contrast, the mental health status and the work attitude of lower rank personnel need special attention and support.

The materials genome initiative (MGI) issued in 2011 convokes a new paradigm of data science complementing with empirical observation, theoretical model and computation simulation, and comprehensively integrates computing, experimental and theoretical methods to produce and deal with big-data under the framework of system engineering of material science. Thereafter, the relationships between properties and material genome (composition and structure of atom systems), processing parameters and service conditions are mined out of data for designing and deployment of new material in accordance with the desired goal. In this article, research paradigms, MGI and system engineering of material science are briefly introduced. Then how to design new materials within data science paradigm is presented in detail through an example in the field of perovskite-type oxide ferroelectric piezoceramics. Finally the result demonstrates that the method of data-mining driven designing within data science paradigm is able to reduce time-to-insight and human effort on synthesis, thus accelerating new materials discovery and deployment.

In this paper, we try to explore the relevance between energy production and water withdrawal by means of spatial autocorrelation analysis of water pressure index based on energy production in order to provide a reference for the optimal adjustment of energy structure and the sustainable development of energy and water in China. The results are as follows. At present, the high-productive areas of main energy production in China are mainly distributed in the north and east-central regions, with the energy production of 5 provinces such as Inner Mongolia and Shandong accounting for 67% of the total China's main energy production; low-productive areas appear in some provinces in the south and southwestern parts. There are differences between the spatial distributions of water withdrawal for the 5 kinds of main energy production, and basically the spatial distribution of water withdrawal for each kind is consistent with the regional distribution of energy itself. The high value areas of water pressure index based on energy production are mainly distributed in the central and northern parts of China. The spatial agglomeration analysis shows that the water pressure index based on energy production has obvious spatial concentration characteristics and the H-H concentration feature is significant.

In order to study the flight risk of civil aviation in China, a risk assessment method of flight security hazard of China civil aviation based on QAR over-limit events is proposed. The potential security hazard of China civil aviation is classified by the risk contribution degrees of risk factors firstly, then a risk assessment index system of potential security risk is constructed on the basis of events which exceed the limits of flight operations quality assurance. Combined with the risk control standards of China civil aviation industry (risk threshold), risk assessment models are established for discrete and continuous over-limit events respectively. By using the actual operational QAR data of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in 2017 and the proposed method, a risk assessment of direct security hazard of China civil aviation is carried out, and the results are in agreement with the safety risk analysis conclusion of the Civil Aviation Safety Report of China, thus verifying the rationality of the proposed index system and models.
